Cricket: Meggies hoping new import will excel with bat and ball
CLEETHORPES CC open their Yorkshire League campaign with a tough trip to Scarborough tomorrow – weather permitting.
James Osmond once again leads the side that finished an excellent third in a title race won on the penultimate weekend of the season by York for their fifth title on the trot.

VERSATILE: Cleethorpes CC's new South African player, Graham Hume.
With South African overseas player Graham Hume having made an early impression with a 33-ball half-century in a comfortable 50-run win over Hornsea, Cleethorpes are hoping for great things from their import and, despite a wet pitch in freezing conditions, was still able to force the batsmen onto the back foot with some real pace.
Cleethorpes' top order remains intact this year, although they will be without Charlie Tomlinson for a fortnight due to him having his appendix removed.

Hume will share the new ball with Andy Ellis, while spinners Alex Osmond and Harry Clewett, who have both returned from Australia after successful spells, will provide their skipper with plenty of ammunition.
Cleethorpes 2nds are led by Andy Haith this season and his side open their Lincs Premier league season with a home clash against Nettleham.
Paul Hewstone's newly-promoted 3rd XI face relegated Horncastle away tomorrow before hosting Louth 2nds on Sunday. Kevin Blewitt once again leads a 4th XI full of youngsters in the third division.

“Understand the Yorkshire League have called off all of Saturdays fixtures and moved them to a date in September when hopefully it will be drier. Looks like a sensible move to me.”
