Dangerous dogs make life a misery
A PAIR of "problem dogs" have struck fear into residents of a Cleethorpes street, who claim the animals are giving them concerns for the safety of their children.
They allege that two Staffordshire Bull terrier-type dogs – which are believed to live in the area – have mauled a cat to death, left excrement on the pavement and repeatedly hounded passers-by.

Some of the Barcroft Street residents worried about two bull terriers roaming free in the area. Centre, front, is Lynne Osborne with her children.
Lynne Osborne (32), who lives on Barcroft Street, said: "My cat, Toby, was killed in January. Somebody saw two dogs dragging it down the street – Toby's neck was broken.
"The two dogs we see a lot are aggressive – I had to stop them getting to another dog the other day. It could have been a kid.
"It has been reported to the council and the police several times, but nothing seems to get done."
Lynne says she does not let her children – Lily-Mae (four), Callum (11) and Shannon (12) – play outside.
"I'm too scared," she said. "I make my oldest carry her bike through the house just in case. It is a total nightmare."
Walter Hand (76), also of Barcroft Street, said: "This has been happening for a long time and a lot of people are fed up with it."
John Waite, environmental enforcement officer for North East Lincolnshire Council, said he was not aware of any incidents, and advised residents to report it to the environmental enforcement team.
"The council does have powers to act in the control of dangerous dogs, more so if the alleged incident is on a public area," he said.
"If there are complaints about the animal when it is on private property, we would take steps with Humberside Police to remedy the situation and ensure the dog is properly controlled."
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "We would urge residents with dogs to ensure they are kept secure with owners taking responsibility for their dogs.
"If a dog is deemed to pose an immediate threat to the safety of the public it is important the local authority is informed so appropriate action can be taken."

“Steve what a stupid comment! Its humans that are the monstrosites not animals! Its humans that cause war and hatred.Animlas act the way they are brought uo to act
I feel for the lady who lost her cat as 2 dogs from next door got under my garden fence and through the cat flap and ripped my cat up in my own home while i was out. And for you information Steve these were working dogs so if anythigng there the ones who have the taste for blood! And they was not staffies they were jack russles.I no 3 staffies who are great dogs as they have been brought up right!
Its all about how you bring you dogs up. My dogs are soft friendly dogs who get on well with my cat and other dogs and people. People need to stop blaming the dogs and focus on there usless owners”

“Well said Paul. Steve, Gy what a stupid comment. I too have owned a dog since I was 14. I have ALWAYS cleared up after them, walked them regularly, fed them, taken them to the vet for booster jabs etc, etc so why should I lose my animals just because someone else can't be bothered to properly care for theirs? I regulary walk my dogs on the beach & have met far more nastier people that dogs!”

“Steve, And what about the 1000's of responsible dog owners who keep their dogs under control? Punish the owners, it's their fault not the dogs.
I've been a dog owner since I was 13, I clean up their mess, keep them on a lead where needed and the worst any of them have ever done is bark at the scum breaking into my car.”

“"We would urge residents with dogs to ensure they are kept secure with owners taking responsibility for their dogs."
Which is all well and good when the owners are responsible, but anyone want to be that these dogs are some ASBO Chav's fashion accessories that are left to run loose when they can't be bothered to feed, walk or care for them, and have been taught to be aggressive because "I won't a well-ard dog init?"”

“Typical dogs. Anyone walking around Bradley Woods, Weelsby Woods, Humberston beach with their children, are likely to meet such monstrosities. Get rid of all but working dogs.”
