Deadline nears for primary school places in North East Lincolnshire
PARENTS have been warned to get their applications for primary school places in by the deadline on Friday or risk losing out on their first choice.
Parents or guardians with children due to start their first school in September this year must get their applications for places in by this coming Friday, January 11.
Those who don't will not be refused a place, but may well lose out on their first choice as North East Lincolnshire Council must give preference to those who apply on time.
Parents have also been advised to consider that children who go to nursery at a primary school or live in the catchment area are not guaranteed a place there in September so must apply on time, either by post or online.
Councillor Iain Lindley, portfolio holder for people's services, said: "We have tried to make it as easy as possible for parents and carers to apply on time with both the paper common application forms and the online facility.
"An application must be submitted, otherwise parents and carers risk their child not being allocated a place at their preferred schools.
"We urge parents and carers to return their forms or apply online as soon as possible and we will offer help and advice to any that need it."
There are a total of 2,095 places available at 46 primary and infant schools and academies in North East Lincolnshire.
You can apply for your preferred school online by clicking here.
Alternatively, pick up a Common Application Form available from nurseries and early years providers, or from the NELC School Admissions Team.
Advice on the application process is available from the School Admissions Team by calling 01472 323081/323079/323099/323082.
Parents and carers will be notified of the outcome of their application by the local authority on Tuesday, April 16.
Offers must be formally accepted by Wednesday, April 30, and appeals will be heard in May and June.
