Decision due on North East Lincolnshire's new council tax support scheme
A DECISION on North East Lincolnshire’s new council tax support scheme will be taken next month.
As reported, the council ran a public consultation on its proposals for the new scheme, which will see around 10,500 people have their benefits cut by about 24 per cent.
The changes are being proposed as a result of a £1.6 million cut in government funding to meet the cost of council tax funding.
The consultation closed in mid-October and a final decision was due by the beginning of this month. However, that has been delayed due to a government announcement about additional funding.

Councillor Darren Billard, portfolio holder for finance, governance and health services, said: “Since the end of the consultation process the government has issued details about additional funding which is available.
“This will impact on the final scheme that is implemented in North East Lincolnshire. We are currently looking at the opportunities this additional funding will give us and, as such, a final decision will not be made until mid-December.”
