CLEETHORPES residents have given a mixed response to the news that a controversial 40 foot high climbing frame near their homes is to be moved to a new location.

North East Lincolnshire Council has confirmed that a planning application has been submitted to move the climbing frame at Trin Youth Centre on Trinity Road to Clee Young People's Centre on Ladysmith Road.

The structure was opened in November 2008 but was closed down six months later after an outcry by neighbours, who complained that it overlooked their gardens.

However, opinion on the move is was very much divided.

Some people said the climbing frame was a much-need facility for local children, while others believe it is an eyesore.

Read reaction in today's Grimsby Telegraph.

“Why should this climbing frame be controversial in the first instance did it not receive planning approval to start off with?? Should there not have been a consultation period as there is with all planning applications?? Is this going to be yet another cost to tax payers to relocate due to the failure of the local authority?? Come on GET use your investigative powers to find out or perhaps you already have and it is too politically sensitive to report on???”
