Derby clash for Linden Homes
LINDEN Homes A had a night to remember in the Premier Section of the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Doubles League.
They faced club-mates Linden Homes B in a derby game at Lovelane Corner.
The B team had the advantage of the pairings and this appeared to work in their favour as Chris Madsen and John Leggett easily won the opening frame.
What was to follow, however, was a surprise as Vic Adams and John Dannatt levelled things up before John Baker, Chris Brown, Mel Pratt and Daz Braithwaite added the rest of the frames to give the A team a terrific 5-1 victory.

Hainton B entertained Clee Cons A and, in a very close affair, Dave Tanner, Dave Boyington, Andy McArthur, Ray Hammond, Mick Dobson and Keith Atmore shared all the frames with visitors Jimmy Yates, Paul Beasley, Paul Lidgard, Richard Gough, Craig Thomas and Damon Gresham in a 3-3 draw.
Taylor Made Carpets swept into a 4-0 lead at Blossom Way B when Keith Southwell, Rick Parry, Mark Stevens and Fred Parker all won 2-0.
Unfortunately for them, they didn't have a last pair so they had to concede the last two frames to the Blossoms.
Colin Grey and Neil Batts won the first two frames for Clee Bowls C at West End A but Euan Hunter and Sandy Young won the next two to even things up. The deadlock couldn't be broken as Paul Smith and Jim Wood shared the last two frames with Pete Cullum and Pete Mitchell as the match finished three-apiece.
In Section A, Standard beat Cromwell B 5-1 when Dave Rushby, John Brocklesby, Dave James and Geoff Brown all won 2-0 and Frank Barber and Paul Rushby shared with slam-savers Ray Revell and Art McDougal.
Clee Bowls B came from two down to get their first win of the season when Doug Stolworthy, Janett Newell, Mick Parker and Dave Walton won the last four frames for them at home against Blossom Way A. Earlier, Steve Walker and Donovan Want won both their frames for the visitors.
