MARINERS skipper Craig Disley says that the Blue Square Bet Premier's fixture computer has come up with a festive cracker for fans and players alike.

The release of the new season's fixtures has once again handed Grimsby Town with fixtures against local rivals Lincoln City over the Christmas period.

The Blundell Park faithful will be looking forward to the clashes against the Imps that, like last campaign, come as part of a double-header, on Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

And while Disley says the squad isn't looking that far ahead just yet, he knows the games against the Sincil Bank outfit will be important clashes.

He said: "The derby games are great games for the whole club, both for the players and the fans.

"You are guaranteed a big crowd and a great atmosphere and with them being both over the Christmas period, it just makes them that extra bit special.

"They were no doubt the first fixtures that the fans were looking for and we as players are looking forward to them as well."

Town completed a double over their Lincolnshire rivals last season with a 2-1 win on Boxing Day followed up with a 3-1 home victory on New Year's Day.

The game on the opening day of 2,012 saw a bumper crowd of 6,672 pack into Blundell Park – the biggest home attendance since the club's relegation in 2010.
