GRIMSBY kart racing team CCL Racing had a great start to the 2013 racing season.

The team – managed by Carl and Chris Lawrence, along with senior technician Nigel Colbrook, were all in triumphant mood following a strong first and a third at the fast and technical circuit in Fulbeck, Lincolnshire.

Despite bitterly freezing cold conditions, both drivers were looking strong and quick during the testing sessions.

Eddie Mawer, 14, from Laceby, qualified well in the three heats to put his OTK kart on the second row for the 12-lap main final in the junior rotax class.

Despite only just moving up to the stronger junior class, Mawer battled hard to bring his kart home in a well-earned third place.

New signing Lucas Vaus, 12, from Louth, dominated the 125cc Minimax class in only his second outing with the team.

Under close coaching and guidance from the team, Vaus won all three heats, putting his OTK kart on pole position for the 12-lap final.

Vaus went on to take the win by over 4.88 seconds from Thomas Turner of South Yorkshire. He also recorded the fastest lap of 46.93.
