Drivel on TV
I WAS gratified to read Carol Vorderman's "Quote me", in your issue of June 11, where she comments on the present media culture as being obsessed with people's appearance, since the rise of the talentless celebrity over the past decade.
Furthermore, in the Sunday Express magazine, one Amy Packer, in previewing the first eviction in Big Brother, reckons we could combine our efforts and vote out all the remaining housemates in one fell swoop, thus saving ourselves at least 60 hours of viewing over the next few weeks, she says, surely better spent learning a language, enjoying a drink, watching paint dry etc.
Is it dawning on people, at last, that this meaningless drivel of a programme should be consigned, forever, to Room 101 and that TV should concentrate on entertaining us with artistes with, at least, a modicum of talent?
