Drunk teenager chased by delivery driver after stealing milk and lorry keys
DRUNKEN teenager Jack Scales was chased and caught by a delivery driver after trying to flee with stolen milk and lorry keys, Grimsby magistrates heard.
Scales, 18, of Chantry Lane, Grimsby, admitted stealing a bottle of milk and ignition keys for a lorry, belonging to Gist Ltd, on December 30.
Nick Wyman, prosecuting, said Scales asked a delivery driver for a bottle of milk at Freshney Place, Grimsby, but was refused.
He took a bottle anyway and ran off but was stopped by the driver. He slipped and fell, causing the bottle to smash.

He shouted and swore at the driver, grabbed the keys from inside the lorry and ran off but was followed and caught with the keys.
Rebecca Perrin, mitigating, said Scales was making a nuisance of himself and did not intend to use the keys.
Presiding magistrate Ray Dumbleton told Scales: “Behave yourself.”
Scales was given a one-year conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

“None of us know him personally but obviously by reading a two page article on a newspaper's website we can deduce that he's worthy of death and/or a beating. Its good we live in a world where everything is black and white so that we can easily class this eighteen year old man as simply being bad without the need for looking at in any depth.”
