hit musical: Todd Carty plays the silly, comic role of King Arthur's servant – Patsy – in Spamalot, alongside Bonnie Langford.
The hit musical lovingly ripped off from Monty Python is coming to Grimsby Auditorium from Monday, until Saturday next week.
Todd's first major television role was playing the lead of Tucker in BBC's Grange Hill for five years, which proved so popular that he was offered his own series playing Tucker as an adult in Tucker's Luck.
The Irish actor has grown up on our television screens since the age of 4 and he said it is "very different being on stage" rather than being on the TV screen.
Todd said: "There are no four corners where we haven't toured in England and I have never been to Grimsby before – I can't wait!
"While filming, you could do as many takes as you want – but it is very different on stage because everyone can see when you go wrong.
"But luckily, comedy is very forgiving, so you won't be able to (hopefully) tell when I forget my lines. My character Patsy is a half-wit servant who is very stupid and has a lot of fun – very much a typical Monty Python character.
"I really enjoy being on tour with everyone, we have great fun and get paid for being silly!"
Todd describes how he enjoys getting the audience in a frenzy of giggles.
He added: "I love seeing young kids and even grannies cackling with laughter, it feels great when you get that kind of reaction.
"I hope the people of Grimsby will enjoy the show as much as we enjoy performing on stage.
"It is a feel-good pantomime for the whole family.
"After the six months of touring with Spamalot, I am hoping for a nice break in the summer with my two children, aged 11 and 15.
"I want to spend some time with them and enjoy being with my family."
So, what about Spam?
"I tried Spam fritters, but I have to watch my waistline you see.
"But Spam soup was one of my favourites... it was lovely!
"It definitely puts hairs on your chest and I am especially looking forward to the fish and chips in Grimsby."
Tickets are priced between £14.50 and £34.50. To book your place at the musical, call 0844 871 3016.
