MY PARTNER and I went out to eat at The Wellow Hotel, in Cleethorpes, on a Saturday night. Despite it being busy, we quickly found a table.

The restaurant is large and the staff were friendly.

I chose the chicken tikka masala (£5.99) served with pilau rice, two poppadoms, tomato and onion salad and mango chutney.

My partner went for the mild or wild chicken skewer sizzler (£8.69). She went for the mild option, having the skewers smothered in chipotle sauce served with chips, peppers, onion rings, grilled tomatoes and onions.

The food came fairly quickly and was hot.

My chicken tikka was as expected. It was presented nicely and there was plenty to eat. The sauce was mild and creamy. The poppadoms were large and the naan bread was a decent size.

My partner’s skewers were again plentiful. It was presented nicely and cooked well.

The sauce was mild and the chicken was well covered.

The meal was nice and just what you would expect to get from a pub menu.

I would recommend The Wellow to anybody wanting a nice and simple meal.
