'Economic growth is number one priority for this area'
LORD Haskins is by no means the only dignitary to back the Able UK plan during the lengthy examination.
Martin Vickers, pictured, Conservative MP for Cleethorpes and Immingham, a constituency covering the proposed site, said: "Economic growth is the number one priority for this area. If we are to retain our advantage over foreign competition it is important that this development is allowed to move forward as quickly as possible."
Nic Dakin is Labour MP for neighbouring Scunthorpe, from where much support has flowed from the local authority, backed by counterparts in North East Lincolnshire. He said: "This application has the potential to reignite the area's industrial heritage and spearhead the renaissance in manufacturing that UK Plc needs."
Councillor Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: "The AMEP development represents a singular opportunity at local, regional and national level and is critical in providing a shot in the arm to boost the struggling manufacturing sector. Put simply, it has to happen."
