Economy is king with this 100mpg budget buy
In the current economic climate, more people than ever want a cost-effective, frugal and practical mode of transport to get them to work. One in eight commuters in Great Britain would consider switching to two wheels in order to avoid traffic and delays. Unsurprisingly then, the sale of affordable scooters has risen considerably. Among those manufacturers winning sales is a company called Kymco, a large South Korean producer of budget scooters and low capacity motorcycles which exports machines around the globe.
The 125 City is well built and robust. With its twist and go style Continuously Variable (CVT) automatic transmission, it's very simple to ride, too. Storage facilities on board are limited to an underseat compartment but there's the option of a rear carrier.
Electric starting means it's easy to bring the engine to life. You have the option to kick-start too. Of course, economy is king with this mode of transport and the City 125 doesn't disappoint. It's possible to reach a shade over 100mpg. The scooters performance is reasonable too. It accelerates well, while its top speed is in excess of 65mph, which is more than enough for the urban commute.
At £1,799, the Kymco City 125 offers exceptional value for money. It's not only inexpensive to purchase but is also cheap to run, with outstanding fuel economy, low maintenance costs and miniscule insurance premiums. Better still, the City's clean engine produces low CO2 emissions. This in turn means cheap road tax and you'll not be clobbered by any congestion charge fees. In many towns and cities across the country, parking for scooters is free – or at least cheaper than alternative types of transport.

Being light and strong, the City 125 lives up to its name by being extremely manoeuvrable about town. It is simplicity itself to ride, very stable, offers a comfortable ride and stops well with good brakes that halt the scooter safely under virtually all road surface conditions.
Kymco are noted for producing dependable machines. Judging by remarks made on internet blogs from City 125 owners, they seem to be a very contented bunch. Reliability looks like a strongpoint with many riders clocking up substantial mileage without problem. Commuting on a tight budget on two wheels doesn't have to be soul destroying, not with scooters like the Kymco City 125 around. This is a good machine and its hardly surprising that Kymco is selling them by the shipload around the world.
