Editor's Comment: Make brownfield sites work
GOOD news today that the derelict old buildings on the hospital site look set to be developed for housing.
Build on, and populate, brownfield sites, make sure the housing is affordable and then areas will start to grow again.
Yes, it is potentially more difficult and possibly costly for developers to take over such areas – it may be that a flat piece of green space with no clutter or old infrastructure is perfect for a clean and shiny new development.
But the Government must put in more incentives to ensure that builders are tempted to create good homes in redundant urban areas.

We also need to see empty homes in our town centres revamped, while at the same time cutting out possible anti social behaviour issues that may have existed – although this issues go hand in hand. If you fill homes with decent families, you should then drive out the thugs, who like nothing more then empty buildings to vandalise and wreck!
