Editor's Opinion: Noise really annoys!
THERE is always a fine balance to strike between people enjoying themselves and the disturbance they create in doing so!
This is especially true in the summer months when bars and clubs will throw the doors of venues open, which inevitably lets the heat and the noise out!
Maybe the fact that there are more people going in and out of doors to smoke also encourages venues to leave doors open – or leads to greater problems with more revellers hanging around outside venues.
It is a nuisance and you can understand the annoyance of nearby residents.

However, this is not just a problem at venues, how many neighbours face daily issues with selfish people living next door? Parties into the early hours, especially in terraced or semi-detached homes, can cause years of misery.
Noise pollution must be a nightmare for those who have to suffer it.
If a person buys a property in a busy area, near bars, they should know to expect a certain amount of disruption. But it is the duty of those responsible to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.

“oops, don't know why that post went before I had finished, but now I started, I'll finish.......
One of my reasons to contact Customer Requests was for a missing speed restriction road sign, as I've said, I received a reply within 24 hours, but it took a bit longer for the sign to be replaced. Apparently, it had to be ordered.
And no, that was NOT a couple of years ago, it was about May, THIS year.”

“Davex66
I was very impressed with Community Pride and my problem was solved early summer of this year.”

“Davex66 - the experiences I described happened this summer, and I am very grateful for the Pride team restoring my peace. They do a grand job and I hope the leaders of the council recognise this, whatever their political colours.”

“I wonder how recent thgese wonderful experiences of Community Pride are? A year or two ago this would have been the service that you could expect, but in the last year or two the service has got worse and worse, until I am afraid the experiences described by justsaying and RICK_777 are more typical of the response you can expect.
I see that a well known Labour troll has been at work on this thread. I wonder if he has ever thought of doing someuseful voluntary work in the community in his spare time instead?”

“Just to add to my previous comment, When Community pride came round it was about 9.pm in the evening and we could not sleep for the thudding music. We have to get up very early for work in the morning so to now have peacefull weekends back and a good nights sleep on Saturday and Sunday nights is great.”

“Noise pollution - It is caused by inconsiderate people who have no regard for their neighbours
or people in the vicinity. We have had to go indoors in the summer due to people playing
their ghetto blasters in their gardens - It is stressfull when all you want is a bit of peace and quiet. We contacted Community Pride and they were brilliant. Problem sorted and we now have a quiet life back again.”

“RICK/Jon,
I've had a couple of reasons to contact the customer requests team (not for noise / neighbour problems) and I've always had an electronic acknowledgement, and within 24 hours a reply from the appropriate department.
Pleased you are happy now the problem has left.”

“@HALLYT The dog opposite me barks every time I get out of the car! Nobody's fault but the owner for leaving it out in the garden all day. Don't think you mentioned that one and I suspect it accounts for 99.9% of the problem!!”
