THEY seem to grow ... and grow!

And, no sooner has one been filled in, another one seems to appear.

Yes, it's the potholes problem rearing its uncomfortable head yet again.

And, on top of that, you have the general deterioration of road surfaces due to wear and tear, as well as some very bad highways that have just got worse and worse since the really bad winter a couple of years ago.

That is the issue with road surfaces – getting on top of the problem, and keeping them up to scratch, is a continual and very expensive job.

You get a bad winter, like the one mentioned above, and it puts authorities, not just here but everyone, on the back foot.

The budget is bust before they even start and then they are having to play catch-up. In these times of austerity, there is only a certain amount of money to go around – and the "pothole pot" is most probably running on empty.

    “Syd,

While I might agree with your 09-45 post, I am sure you are wrong in calling Arthur "young man". Isn't he an EARLY retired(?) 'Pensioner', (engineer?) and then known as Alun, covered in coal dust? lol”

“It is obviously sheer coincidence that these "let's be kind and understanding to the council" editorials have been more frequent since the last NELC elections.”

“I agree , it is somewhat concerning that the GY Telegraph editor is too often in pictures side by side with local council bods. Also I am getting sick of "The Telegraph says" snippets on viewpoint and "Editors opinion". I would have thought as a local paper your job is to report "WHAT" the news is , not "WHAT YOU" say is the news”

“ImmArthur said - "Why on earth isn't there an alternative, objective, fair and reasonably-managed forum for discussing local matters?"

(sharp intake of breath) .. Go wash your mouth with soap and water at once Arthur of Immingham!!

Goodness gracious, gracious goodness, goodness gracious me! What next?? The Great Unwashed actually being allowed to express an honest opinion?? That's practically blasphemous in this day and age, and well you know it young man!
    Shame on you ..
    tut tut”

So the Council hand over £20,000 for a Gay Pride booze up!”

“I clicked the 'submit' button once only. If the GT IT people weren't so busy policing our thoughts and comments, they'd be able to spend time making a site that works properly.

Why on earth isn't there an alternative, objective, fair and reasonably-managed forum for discussing local matters?

    Arthur, Immingham”
