"And he will have responsibility for recruitment and selection, supported by the captains. coaches and everyone else.
"Every other Yorkshire League side has a cricket manager – people like Arnie Sidebottom and Steve Oldham, past first-class players and Yorkshire coaches.
"We've been lagging behind in that, so we're catching up now.
"Andy's not just responsible for the first team, but the whole club."
Hewstone added: "He's not being paid for it – he's doing it for Cleethorpes and how he feels about the club, which is an absolute credit to Andy.
"He will be playing as and when, if he and the first team captain see fit.
"There will be certain grounds where Andy has historically done well when they will consider him for selection."
Cleethorpes CC's AGM takes place on Friday, November 23, where a decision will be made on the captaincy of the Meggies' first XI for the 2013 campaign.
