Emmerdale stars to hot foot it to Grimsby for charity stunts
DAREDEVILS – including soap stars – are preparing to walk over broken glass and burning coals so the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses can come true.
Next month, fundraisers including three Emmerdale cast members – Nicola Wheeler, Alicya Eyo and Kelli Hollis – will head to Grimsby's Masonic Hall for the event – and there are still spaces for you to join in.
The extreme challenges are in aid of When You Wish Upon A Star. It's the eighth time the charity has hosted the fire walk, and the second glass walk.
Joanne Heywood, who runs the local arm of the charity with her mum Pat Wright, says both walks are a great way of learning to overcome your fears.

She said: "I have taken part in the fire walk every time we have organised it. I am far from a daredevil – you would not find me jumping out of a plane – but I know from experience anyone can do this.
"You actually get more out of it than you put in – it is great.
"The training sessions you get prior to doing either walk are fantastic and people are reassured on any issues or worries they may have.
"I have never known anyone to back out once they have had the training."
The fire walk is a lane about 20ft long and 3ft wide of hot coals. Usually around the time of walking, it reaches 800 degrees Fahrenheit.
The glass walk sees people step across four metres of sterilised smashed wine bottles.
Both events will take place on Sunday, October 7, and participants for the glass walk will need to turn up at 2pm for a 3.30pm start.
Those taking part in the fire walk need to turn up at 5pm ready for a 7.30pm start.
Joanne added: "We still have spaces left for both walks so I encourage anyone prepared to take on something different to get in touch.
"We are delighted to have some Emmerdale cast members joining in, Nicola Wheeler has supported us for a long time and was more than happy to take on a challenge.
"Alicya Eyo and Kelli Hollis joined us on our annual Lapland trip last year and I am delighted that they are taking part in this.
"I know they all have a lot of charities to support so we are always very honoured when they take time out for us."
People can take part in both walks, there is a non-refundable booking fee of either £10 for one event or £15 for both.
Fundraisers are asked to try to raise a minimum of £100 to take part in the glass walk and £120 to take part in the fire walk.
