INDIE favourites Venacava have a Christmas goodie bag bursting with musical surprises this weekend.

The foursome will headline a festive party like no other when they return to Grimsby's Matrix Club on Saturday.

Ably supported by local acts The Flyovers, Socio Republic and Jamie Green, the band say this gig represents the perfect way to end 2009.

Lead singer Leon Blanchard said: "We started the year with our first gig being held at The Matrix, after being told a gig on the Docks had to be cancelled, and now we are going to finish it at the same place we started.

"We are excited about the set this time around as we have three brand new tracks to play. We are really looking forward to getting out on the road next year with our new booking agent, Harry Farmer."

The band, completed by bassist Jared Webb, guitarist Nick Millward and drummer James Buxton, say next year will see a host of exciting developments for the local lads.

Leon said: "Harry is looking to book the band on various support tours and festival slots and we will also be releasing a single/EP and an album through Distiller Records next year.

"We've been rehearsing four or five nights a week, which has been pretty tough as well as being in the studio, but we are really happy with everything at the moment.

"It feels like the band is still progressing and it seems like the album as a whole is just about finished."
