Ex-Mayor cleared of code of conduct breach
FORMER mayor of Immingham Joy Banks has been cleared of breaching the council's code of conduct.
A standards committee panel at Grimsby Town Hall rejected allegations that Mrs Banks, who has since resigned from office, brought the council into disrepute with her behaviour at a function at Immingham Civic Centre in September last year.

Joy Banks
After the hearing Mrs Banks, spoke of her "relief" after "six months of pure hell".
But town clerk Dave Jackson, who made the complaint against Mrs Banks, said the decision gave councillors "carte blanche" to act in an unacceptable manner to officers.

“Warrior,
I have often admired some of your views and learnt from them.........however I am looking up the meaning of modesty:
You will never be clever enough to be as brainy as me.
Please lets reserve negative comments for the quasi abolished ITC.”

You will never be clever enough to be as brainy as me.
Keep dreaming and taking your tablets might help, but I doubt it. :-)”

“Bernard,
There is nothing complicated about it.
In stead of wishing you were a pensioner, you should wish you had a brain. :-)”

“Warrior.
Nice that you've cleared that one up, So we now know that Pensioner IS a pensioner but not a senior citizen.
Great now we know he IS a pensioner even though he recieves a pension that he is entitled to, this really is complicated, wish i was a pensioner.”

“Bernard,
I was referring to your 11 Feb 16-21 post, in which you said, " I don't know you but accept you are a senior citizen.... etc"
You are WRONG, he is not a "senior citizen."
I believe a "Senior Citizen is a person who retires at the retirement age of 65 for men and 60 for women.
As Pensioner took EARLY retirement, and is not 65, he is not classed a "Senior Citizen."
Where as I, (and all of the others) that retired at the age of 65 are 'classed' as "Senior Citizens."
I'm afraid that Pensioner is just an argumentative, no hope Private Pension Pensioner'. :-(”

“What are you talking about Bernard, it was the cost of providing a well used service. It was only withdrawn because usage dropped. The money was then returned to the rate payer. You will be wanting NELC to shut down its library service because you dont use it. Or shall we not have street lights because you do not drive a car. Shall the town council close down its swimming scheme and save some more money because you are an adult, well I think you are”

“George.
This really is getting interesting again.
So it's OK that £9,000 was wasted is it?
What does it matter when this scandolous was spent, it was still spent and i suppose by now there is nothing to say what the money was spent on only the say of the clerk.
Sorry but this is not how accounting should be done especialy when it's public money, unless of course the public don't care.”

“George. Yes in Immingham.
Please check YOUR facts.
The coach refered to by Pensioner was mentioned in his post 11thFeb 10-51.
If you care to read it you will notice it says. "BEFORE IT'S DEMISE" this to me would appear that the coach does not exist now.
The point that was being made was that in the 3years prior to it's departure it cost £3,000per year making a total of £9,000spent on a coach which to me seems quite a lot of money.
So YES it did exist and somewhere along the line the Council Tax payers picked up a large bill for the pleasure of it.”
