Ex-pop girl really Roxx
F ROM a girl band to rock star... music with an Estonian flavour is set to rock The Yardbirds Club.
Marya Roxx – who has fans around the globe – is coming to Grimsby as part of her UK tour.
-

PUNK GIRL: Marya Roxx will perform at The Yardbirds Club in Grimsby.
The tour is a preamble to Marya's forthcoming album 'Payback Time' on Golden Media Records, which has been produced by Iron Maiden's Kevin Shirley and is already being tipped for success.
Her band includes former Anthrax Guitarist Paul Crock and she will start her tour in early November at the Hellfire festival in Birmingham, before heading to Grimsby at the end of November.
Born Maarja Kivi in 1986 in Tallinn, Estonia, she is a former member of the girl group Vanilla Ninja.
She began her career in the spotlight by competing in the 2002 Eurolaul, the Estonian competition to find an entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Later that year, she became one of the original four members of Vanilla Ninja, taking on the lead vocals and role of bassist in most tracks on their first two albums, Vanilla Ninja and Traces Of Sadness.
But she left the group in mid-2004 to make real rock and metal music, not pop- rock.
Her solo comeback was at first unsuccessful, but fame beckoned and two singles charted in Switzerland and in the Baltic Top 20.
Earlier this year, Marya – whose influences include Motley Crue, Anthrax, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden – was nominated in three categories in the Mavric Awards and won two; Best Hard Rock Song and Best Punk Song.
Her visit to Grimsby will see her supported by classic rock favourites Voodoo Johnson and Weymouth-based Tribal Law.
