POLICE have located the child involved in an accident on Grimsby's Stanley Street earlier today.

As reported, the infant, estimated to be around 13 months old, was a passenger in a blue Citroen Saxo that was involved in a two-vehicle collision, which caused a silver Nissan Micra to leave the road and career through a garden wall.

The accident happened at approximately 1.04pm today but the occupants of the Saxo - two men and a woman - fled the scene with the infant.

One of the men and the woman were arrested a short distance from the scene of the crash.

However, the other man - believed to be 23-years-old and wearing a dark blue Adidas jacket and shorts - had left the area, taking the child with him.

A spokesman for Humberside Police said a member of the public had informed officers that the child, who is not thought to have sustained any significant injuries, had been taken to Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital as a precaution.

The 23-year-old is still to be located by officers.

Anyone who may have information, is asked to call Humberside Police tel 101 quoting log 252 of 09 October.
