Writer and feminist Germaine Greer headlines literature festival
WRITER and feminist Germaine Greer will give a talk in Cleethorpes as part of a month-long literature and comedy festival.
The Australian-born journalist and author will headline the Lit.com Festival – which will run throughout October – and is set to appear at the Parkway Cinema And Theatre on October 6.

Germaine is the author of several highly-acclaimed books, including the ground-breaking The Female Eunuch, which became an international bestseller when it was published in 1970.
This year marks its 40th anniversary.
It turned her into a household name overnight, bringing her both adulation and criticism.
Her ideas have created controversy ever since.
Her one-woman show provides a unique insight into being a fearless international feminist icon and highly-regarded academic through four decades of change.
Charlotte Bowen of the Culture House, which is organising the Lit.com festival, said: "Germaine is a great headliner and will be talking about her journey.
"I organised the festival for five years while working for North East Lincolnshire Council's arts development department, but have now started up my own events and marketing company.
"This year's festival is sponsored by TransPennine Express and we are working with dozens of partners including the council, Caxton Theatre, Grimsby Auditorium and more."
The Culture House has a budget of about £15,000, which Charlotte said was small considering the events included in the festival.
Theatre fans can watch three top UK touring companies, and there will also be a mini poetry festival with around ten dates across the region including readings, workshops and open mic nights.
Internationally-acclaimed comedian Stewart Francis will also perform at Grimsby Auditorium on October 10.
She said: "We also have a production of Frankenstein near Halloween being staged at Grimsby Minster.
"All of the events are accessible and affordable and the festival is a great way of bringing everyone together to put the town on the map."
The festival is officially launched today at Grimsby's Fishing Heritage Centre. Visit www.litdotcom.com and keep reading your Grimsby Telegraph for details.
