Flood warning sirens to be tested in Grimsby and Cleethorpes today
THE Environment Agency is carrying out its annual test of the flood warning sirens in Grimsby and Cleethorpes today.
All 18 sirens in the area will be sounded three times between 10am and 12pm. A voice message advising that a test is being carried out will be followed by a message giving a Severe Flood Warning and a further statement confirming that it is a test.

People who hear the sirens should take no action.
The flood warning sirens in the North East Lincolnshire area are used to warn residents of tidal flooding from the Humber. A siren on Grimsby’s Willows Estate is also used to warn residents of flooding from the River Freshney.

Environment Agency staff will be in Freshney Place shopping centre between 9am and 5pm today to answer questions about the sirens and flooding in general.
Information will be available on how to prepare for and respond to a flood and what to do when a siren is heard.

Bit like the old air raid siren.
So if we hear that siren we all now know that we don't have to rush home, paint our windows white, take internal doors off and hide beneath them under the stairs inside 4 minutes.
Phew what a relief.”
