Football: Washout weekend for amateur sides
ALL three of the area’s sides were temporarily halted in their Baris Northern Counties East League tracks as bad weather swept across the region.
Cleethorpes Town – who had made the trip to Sheffield side Hallam – were unable to strengthen their Division One promotion claim as heavy rain forced the cancellation of that match.
It was a similar story for Grimsby Borough, who were due to host league leaders Athersley Recreation at Bradley Community Stadium.
Having gone four games without victory, Borough were hoping to return to winning ways but must now wait until Saturday when they host Albion Sports.

Meanwhile, Daryl Clare’s Louth Town were prevented from continuing their fine form as another waterlogged pitch took control.
The former Mariners striker had been due to take his side across Lincolnshire to face Appleby Frodingham, who are struggling in the lower reaches of Division One.
Cleethorpes will have a lesser wait for their next NCEL fixture – they host Selby Town on Wednesday night (7.45pm kick-off).
