TONIGHT friends and relatives of Beatles' fan Stuart Thompson will host a benefit gig in memory of the Cleethorpes man who died in April, aged 54.

The memorial event for the self-styled "fifth Beatle" of Cleethorpes will help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mr Thompson, a former stevedore on Grimsby and Immingham docks, died in Castle Hill Hospital, Hull, after a short battle with cancer of the oesophagus.

His fiancee Mandy Farrow and friends Pete and Tina Chapman have organised the event at The Beachcomber in Humberston from 7pm.

His mates will join in with band, The Nines, as a finale.

Tickets for the gig – called The Wonder Of Stu – cost £6 and are available from family and friends or online at www.thewonderof stu.com
