Grimsby Gators Basketball Club ready to raise game
BASKETBALL coach Jason Munroe is relishing the formation of a new league that he believes will enable the sport to thrive in the region.
Munroe, of Grimsby Gators Basketball Club, is delighted by plans for a Humber Basketball Association League south of the river in the aftermath of the London 2012 Olympics.

Gators have operated for more than 15 years but didn't have enough players to enter a league last season.
Now they are ready to enter senior and junior teams for matches.

Munroe said: "This season should see the Gators' senior team take part in a Humber Basketball League alongside our close friends the Grimsby Snaprats in what looks likely to be a very interesting and competitive league.
"It's going to be a big test and we're ready for it.
"Playing more local teams will make it a lot easier for us in terms of travelling and expenses – we are really looking forward to it.
"Last year, we weren't able to compete in the league because we didn't have enough players, but this year we've got a full team to compete so we can't wait to get going.
"We're always looking to develop any new players. You don't have to be a seasoned player to join in – it's all about the fitness and enjoyment you get out of it."
