Getting to the Hart of history
BRIAN West got in touch after reading Gloria Needham's memories of the White Hart and Old Market Place area of Grimsby, and her great-great-grandfather, Bransby Harrison.
Brian said: "Mrs Needham's letter was very interesting and seems to me to be a valuable addition to the history of the Old Market Place area.

"It is probably true that the original White Hart Hotel did not have a large number of bedrooms, as Mrs Needham said, but the building we see now consists of the 'much bashed about' original, thought to have been a pair of houses in Bethlehem Street, plus two or more later additions.
"The large number of bedrooms and stables were added at the end of the 19th century and it might be these that are responsible for it being referred to as a coach house."
