LOUTH cricketer Arran Brindle hit 12 runs and took an important catch as England made a winning start to their ICC Women's World Twenty20 campaign.

The Greenwich House Independent School teacher helped her team to a total of 133 for six in their 20 overs in Sri Lanka yesterday, before Pakistan were bowled out for just 90 in reply.

England continue their bid to qualify for the semi-finals of the event with another Group A clash against India tomorrow.

Brindle's planned 'beam-back' interview with her pupils in Louth has been postponed due to a lack of Wi-Fi at her hotel in Sri Lanka.
