It was the BMX day of racing today at the New Waltham BMX track near Cleethorpes which celebrated it's first anniversary this month.

Organised by Giving Young People Opportunitie (G*Y*P*O) the event attracted many young and older BMX riders. In fact the age range today was from five years to the over 40s!

Amongst the bikers was the next GB Olympic hopeful BMX racer Grant Hill, he is part of the British Cycling Olympic BMX Academy programme  based in Manchester. This years London Olympic has spurned a lot of interest in BMX racing from youngsters. So look out for him in Rio in four years time - and remmeber you saw him here first!

It was great to see a little boy on his little BMX bike get onto the main track and he did very well getting around  apart from near the end when he struggled to get up a large slope and then along came Grant Hill to give him a helping hand.

Another great event for young people in our area - well done to everyone involved.
