YOU just cannot keep century breaks out of the news in Grimsby at the moment – and there was another this week when Jamie Green notched a ton while playing for his Webbonet team.

The break came in a Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Singles League match.

Playing in the Premier Section at home against West End C, Green was paired against Martin Shaw.

In his first frame, he stroked in a wonderful 112 break before narrowly missing the final blue with a possible 130 clearance on.

Breaks of 39 and 33 saw him win his second frame to add to the two Mark Franks had secured earlier.

Mick Ponsonby then shared his frames with visitor Dave Powell before Paul Metcalf won the last two for the leaders as they finished with a 7-1 victory.

On an adjoining table at the Edmonds Club, Lee Plant failed to make a three-figure break as he missed the last brown on 94 when a possible 116 was on.

Playing against MJ Decorators, Plant, Alan Edmonds and Jamie Richardson all won 2-0 and John Ashford-Smith scored a single as they won the match 7-1.

Another team to score seven were Metshine Westlands as Pete Smith, Tony Aisthorpe and Tim Gillin all won 2-0 at Blossom Way B.

Steve Crane saved the slam for the home team with a single against Mick Thornton.

Inspirations Fireplaces hit Willows Sea Foods for six when Daz Evans and Paul Smith both won two and Lee Blanchard and Tony Miller shared with Jack Stinson and Richard Smith.
