JOINT boss Nigel Fanthorpe is calling on Grimsby Borough to push for points at home as they bid for a first win in 2013.

The Wilderness Boys have lost their last three games in the Baris Northern Counties East League Division One, and need to start picking up points to avoid having to look over their shoulders at the bottom end of the table.

Borough, co-managed by Steve Newby, will host mid-table Clipstone Welfare at the Bradley Community Stadium tomorrow (3pm) – if the game gets the nod to go-ahead after the recent wet weather.

Fanthorpe said: "It could well be off with the rain we've had recently.

"But if it goes ahead, we need to get a result – we have to start winning our home games.

"Clipstone are in a bit of a free-fall themselves. We need to take advantage.

"We've regrouped and rested up. We've had a few training sessions despite the weather."

He went on: "When the Sunday League has been off, we've met up them too.

"But you can't beat playing and we hope to get back in action as soon as possible.

"We have a run of home games coming up and need to pick up some wins."

Appleby Frodingham's shock 3-2 victory at the start of the month against league leaders Athersley Recreation shows any game is winnable, according to Fanthorpe.

He added: "The atmosphere in our squad is still positive. We've been playing well but just haven't got the results we've deserved.

"We need to grind out a victory now, even at the expense of a good performance, just to get us up and running again."
