CAMBRIDGE United are confident that Saturday’s clash with Grimsby Town will go ahead.

The U’s were forced to cancel Tuesday night’s clash with Ebbsfleet United because of a frozen pitch at the Abbey Stadium.

However, fans and staff rallied together yesterday to clear the snow from the surface, with the weather set to improve in East Anglia.

United managing director Dave Doggett is looking forward to welcoming the travelling Mariners fans.

He told the Telegraph: “It’s all looking good for Saturday, barring any major problems with the weather.

“Fans and staff cleared the snow from the pitch yesterday and it’s looking nice and green – and I promise we haven’t spray-painted it!

“We know that Grimsby Town will bring a healthy following and we’re looking forward to welcoming them.”
