GRIMSBY Town midfielder Frankie Artus will undergo a scan on Thursday to discover the extent of the knee injury he picked up at Southport.

The Bristolian is almost certainly out of this weekend's FA Trophy quarter-final clash with York City and could be sidelined until next month with his right knee heavily swollen after hyper-extending it at Haig Avenue.

Artus saw a consultant yesterday for an initial assessment but Town won't know the full nature of the damage until that swelling has subsided.

Town physio Dave Moore is hopeful of good news but remains concerned.

He said: "When it's swollen so much it is usually a bad sign but we'll know more after a scan.

"Hopefully, it will be good news but I think we are looking at a few weeks."

It's a blow for both the team and Artus himself.

And with possible replacements Louie Soares and Kiernan Hughes-Mason both cup-tied for the weekend, it limits the options for the Town management team.

Joint boss Paul Hurst said: "Since coming into the team against Lincoln, Frankie has done really well in that role.

"It doesn't look good at the minute and it's a blow for him and for us. But hopefully it will be positive news after the scan and he will be back sooner rather than later."
