GRIMSBY Town could be without midfielder Frankie Artus for Saturday's FA Trophy quarter-final with York City after he picked up a knee injury at Southport.

But defender Scott Garner should be okay to figure against the Minstermen – despite lasting just 13 minutes of the 2-1 win at Haig Avenue.

Joint manager Rob Scott revealed the young centre-back was fine after being stretchered off following a nasty bang on the head at Southport and, with no hospital visit needed, hopes he will be able to return at the weekend.

But the prognosis could be bleaker for Artus.

Scott said: "Scott was okay afterwards on Friday.

"He took a whack right on the temple and it stunned him for a little bit.

"He wasn't knocked unconscious. He was awake the whole time, but a bit groggy.

"Frankie is more of a concern. He hyper-extended his knee.

"His leg was straight and the lad has come down on top if him.

"He may be missing for us at the weekend which is a blow because he's been playing well."

Town will also be without cup-tied quartet Kenny Arthur, Kiernan Hughes-Mason, Louie Soares and Friday scorer Ian Miller for Saturday's last-eight tie.

But Scott says there is enough quality waiting to step in as proved at Southport when Shaun Pearson came on for Garner and put in a man-of-the-match display.

Scott added: "Shaun was a rock when he came on and did extremely well.

"That's what we expect from our players on the periphery.

"We want them to come in and hit the ground running.

"It's tough of the lads who aren't starting, but the lads in possession are winning games.

"We have decisions to make again on Saturday for the trophy with the cup-tied lads out, but it is a nice selection headache."
