GRIMSBY Town are keen to do all they can to ensure tomorrow's game against York goes ahead.

And they are appealing for volunteers to help clear snow from the Blundell Park pitch.

The Blue Square Bet Premier game with the Minstermen is set to kick-off at 3pm.

Anyone willing to help have been asked to bring a shovel/snow clearer from 7am tomorrow.

    “pontoonergy, how about free entry to the game for those willing to help out in the morning. if we can get more people into the ground to cheer our team on then it would be worth more than fish n chips.

    Afterall its a big match against york city and the more supporters the team get the better.

    come on Town

    “Or a free fish n chip lunch to show the volunteers how grateful the club is for helping the game to go ahead ...... the cost so little compared to postponing a game ..... food for thought don't you think GTFC.Utm!!”

    “It's doubtful that the game will be on. It's the frost that will do it - not the snow and the clearing of it - at the mo. it is freezing absolutely out there; even some of today's thaw has started to turn into rock-solid ice.

    Still, you can try, but see that there have been postponements already and at the end of the day;
    it's the ref who makes the decision regardless of what hard work has been undertaken.”

    “When GTFC had to cancel the sleep out for the homeless at BP last weekend, they are hardly likely to condone fans sleeping out tonight.
    Looking outside now, where the sun has beeni s clearing fast. I think we need to hope for a decent temperature tonight and then clear the area infront of the Findus tomorrow AM and it should be good to go.”

    “Don't be tempted to clear the snow before tonight, as a temperature of minus four is forecast. Could fans not camp on the pitch overnight? The area in the Findus Stand's shadow is usually the most frozen.”
