Grimsby Town: Louie targets debut impact
HE may have had to wait longer than expected for his Grimsby Town debut but new winger Louie Soares is hoping tomorrow will be the day against York City.
The 27-year-old signed for the Mariners on deadline day but he was unable to play in the FA Trophy tie at Bath due to his involvement for Hayes & Yeading United in the earlier rounds.

New Grimsby Town signing Louie Soares
But 11 days after his switch to Blundell Park, he is now all set to figure and while he may not start against the Minstermen, he hopes to be involved at some stage and show the Town faithful what he's capable of.
Sixteen goals so far this season is certainly grounds for optimism and Soares hopes to add to that in a Town shirt.
And he's enjoying being part of a full-time club again.
He said: "Hopefully, the game will be on and I can get a debut.
"I can't wait to be honest; it seems like it been a long time coming since I signed.
"It may have helped me a bit to be fair.
"I've had over a week now to train with the lads and get to know them.
"It's helped me settle quickly.
"When I was at Hayes it was part-time so we didn't train all the time.
"So, despite the weather, it's been good being back at a club training every day.
"With it being part-time, some of the boys had another job.
"My missus worked so I looked after my little girl while she was at work.
"It was good because she is only 16 months so I enjoyed spending time with her.
"It's not ideal because you only have one person bringing in a good wage.
"I wasn't that badly paid at Hayes so it wasn't that hard to cope.
"But now I'm back full-time and loving it.
"I just want to get the black and white shirt on now and show the fans what I can do."
Soares will hope for a better home result against York than the 4-2 defeat he suffered with Hayes & Yeading in October.
He did, however, score in that game and a repeat of that wouldn't go amiss.
Soares went on: "We played York at Hayes and they started well in that game. It finished 4-2 and they played some good football.
"So we know it will be tough; they are in fourth place.
"These are the games I moved to Grimsby to play in, though. It's good to be playing in big games and pushing for promotion spots rather than being at the other end of the table."

“Guys, he is doing things ass-backwards. Whe you first join a club the stock answer in interviews is " Glad to be here", "Do my best to help the team", "I'll play anywhere/anytime the manager wants me". etc., When he's been here awhile and DOES score a goal every two games i.e. establish a track record, then he can be a little more specific as to what his hopes are. Or maybe they do things different in England. By the way, if he is a prolific goal scorer he won't be in Gy for long.”

“Xochitl, if Soares can continue to score a goal every two games, he can say whatever he wants.”

“Louie, there is no "I" in "team", and soccer is first and foremost a team sport. Don't be concerned with " Hopefully....I can get a debut" , be grateful that you have the opportunity to play at anytime as part of a team. If you want to play solo, take up golf.”
