JOINT manager Rob Scott says everyone at Grimsby Town is relishing a hectic month hunting double glory in cup and league.

First up for the Mariners is an FA Trophy quarter-final home tie with York City on Saturday before a March run of nine games in 29 days – virtually a game every three days.

But Scott is undaunted and believes it's a time to savour with big cup matches and league games against four of the sides in the top seven of the Blue Square Bet Premier.

The joint boss said: "We are at the stage now where we are playing teams in and around us and it's important to take points in these games.

"It's going to be a pivotal time for us; particularly in March with games coming Saturday and Tuesday throughout the month and that's not including the Trophy if we get through again.

"But every club has had disruption with the weather with regards training and games off.

"It's pretty much an even playing surface in that respect.

"The good thing is that we have managed to get back to full training on the pitches at Cheapside which has been good after the recent cold spell."

“Cambridge and Wealdstone won last night, so they play each other on Saturday. Other QF ties are Luton v Gateshead and Northwich v Newport. If we beat the KIt-Kats, I hope we avoid Luton in the semis on March 10 and 17.”

“IMO when you're playing well, you can't get enough football. And this game is against one of the rivals for those play off places, so it gives Scott and Hurst a chance to check them out tactically before the league game. Could work the other way, of course. Barring injuries, we need the gate receipts.”

“Whether its tinpot or not it's always good to try and beat opposition and be winners in every respect. It's no good setting yourself up to fail this can lead to an unhealthy mindset, what's the point of getting out of bed if there wasn't anything to live for?
Plus the cash received from these games via the fa and gate receipts will come in handy, it'll also be good publicity for next seasons journey through league 2 :) utm...”

“'drenetar' I think a possible Wembley trip and something in the trohpy cabinet will be worth it, players want those big games and silverware (its good for prospective players wanting to come to the club too). We are currently a non-league team, and the FA Trophy is a decent enough cup for this level.
Our current run will have to end at some point but a top six finish and the FA trophy will be a succesful season even if we dont go up.”

“I still think we should be out of this tinpot trophy and concentrate on the league, but I suppose S & H know what they are doing”
