Grimsby Town: Shaun Pearson tips Andy Cook to shine
GRIMSBY TOWN defender Shaun Pearson believes that the Mariners have made a fantastic signing in Andy Cook.
Cook signed a two-year deal, with an option of a further year, after rejecting an offer from Barrow.
Pearson watched Cook’s exploits against Town from the bench in both of the Mariners’ games against the Bluebirds last season.
And, after speaking with Cook’s former strike partner Adam Boyes – who Pearson knows from his time at Boston United – he is convinced that the young striker will make an impact at Blundell Park.

He said: “I spoke to Adam at Barrow about Andy and it looks like he is going to be a great signing for the club.
“There are not many players that scored a hat-trick against clubs like Fleetwood Town last season so he is obviously a top player.”
Cook was Town’s first signing of the summer but was closely followed into Blundell Park by fellow new faces Joe Colbeck and Sam Hatton as Rob Scott and Paul Hurst look to bolster their current squad ahead of the new season.
And despite being one of those players, Pearson says he is just as excited as any fan to see which new faces arrive.
He said: “I’m just like a fan, eager to know who we are going to get in. Hopefully, whoever does come in, we can get a good team spirit going and have a great season.”
