GRIMSBY Town striker Anthony Elding has agreed a new deal at the club to extend his stay for an additional 12 months, with the option of a third year.

Elding originally signed a year-long contract last summer after leaving Rochdale.

But a clause in that deal triggered the offer of a new contract based on league appearances.

The former Leeds frontman has made 37 appearances in total for Town this campaign and netted 11 times.

His new deal begins this summer and guarantees a stay until 2013 at least.

See Tuesday's Grimsby Telegraph for an exclusive interview with the Town frontman.

“Not sure why someone has given these comments the thumbs down. Maybe it's Rob Duffy.”

“Good - Elding is doing a similar job to what Gary Jones did.”
