GRIMSBY Town's FA Trophy Round Three clash at Bath City has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

An inspection was held at Twerton Park at 1pm, and it was decided the pitch would not be ready for 3pm tomorrow, with conditions set to deteriorate even further overnight.

The game has been re-arranged for Tuesday, weather permitting, meaning the Blue Square Bet Premier match at Tamworth will need re-arranging for a third time.

Reaction in tomorrow's Grimsby Telegraph.

“If the revised date for Tuesday falls foul of the weather does that mean the York game will be cancelled?”

“The trophy represents a chance to play at Wembley, WHICH WOULD BOOST THE CLUB'S FINANCES. It would also mean the players are less nervous if we get to the play-off final.”

“I said a few weeks back its a tinpot trophy, and the league is where we need to be looking at.
Dont think the managers agree if you read what they say about it.
Is it just a coincidence all the top teams are out the competition, cant see the point in risking our best players!!
Better to send the reserves to Bath!!!”

“I don´t know why my first comment was removed, bui I agree Lincs. The teams pushing for promotion all went out in the first round of this meaningless trophy, lets send the fringe players because if we draw that will mean another fixture in the calender. After all we have now got a few bob from the Bennit sale”

“The cup is going to cause problems, it takes precedence over the league games and consequently becomes a distraction. A backlog of games and potential for other teams in the league to forge a gap again.... Would rather us playing Tamworth and keeping the league momentum going and not trekking down to Bath on a Tues night before a big league game on the following Saturday....let's hope Tues night gets postponed as well...”

“Nice long rest for some players for the next league game. Just the job.”
