Former Grimsby Town boss Mike Newell and Brian Stein linked with Swindon hotseat
FORMER Grimsby Town boss Mike Newell and his former assistant Brian Stein are being tipped to take over at Swindon Town should current boss Paolo Di Canio be sacked.
The Mirror are reporting that the cash-strapped Robins are ready to drop the fiery Italian because he is too expensive.
A takeover is said to be imminent at the League One club, with the new owners planning to change manager if they receive approval to take control in the next few days.
Stein, who was Newell’s chief scout and then assistant during his stint as Mariners boss between 2008 and 2009, is said to be good friends with potential buyer Jed McCrory.

“Love the logic - sack the manager who has taken you to the brink of a promotion place "because he is too expensive" and replace him with the biggest pair of clowns who have ever been in charge at Blundell Park ( IMO worse than Mike Lyons as at least under him we had a brilliant first half of the season)
Mark my words, appointing Newell and Stein will cost Swindon far more in the medium term than continuing to employ Di Canio.
Lets's hope that the Mirror has got it wrong.....”
