PAUL Hurst says the visit of top-of-the-table Forest Green Rovers will be his side's biggest test yet.

Rovers take the long trip north from Gloucestershire unbeaten and in free-scoring mood, having thumped lowly Ebbsfleet United 4-1 on Tuesday evening.

And Hurst feels Town couldn't have asked for a tougher test than Dave Hockaday's pace-setters.

But, after convincing performances against Wrexham, Mansfield and Hereford United in recent weeks, the joint boss is confident of his side's chances.

"They're top of the league, unbeaten and they're scoring goals, so realistically there isn't going to be a sterner test" he said.

"Forest Green are the team to beat – there's no denying it.

"But however well they are doing, with respect, we're not playing Manchester United or Barcelona – its Forest Green Rovers.

"Yes they are a good team and doing very well at the minute, but they are at our level, and, at home, we want it to be about us and what we can do.

"We'll have to be on our guard and know that they'll be a very dangerous team. But tomorrow is about realising that we are good enough to compete with them and getting in that mind-set.

"If we can perform to a similar level to that which we showed against Mansfield, then certainly we'll ask questions of them.

"We have to be prepared to stand up to the challenge but impose ourselves on the game as well."

Hurst added that the clash will give his side an opportunity to underline their credentials following a poor first-half performance at Barrow in midweek.

He said: "We feel like we can be a match for teams and tomorrow will give a good indication of that.

"We'll certainly have to play better than we did first half against Barrow.

"But it's at times when questions have been asked of this squad – like with the Mansfield and Hereford games – they've produced and we hope that's the case again.

"They're solid in every department. Defensively they've got a couple of England C lads, a very experienced goalkeeper and goals from midfield and up front.

"So you can see why they're doing so well.

"But we're confident in what we can do and we'll be doing everything possible to inflict their first defeat of the season."

“Call me a miserable s0d, but it'll be more than a stern test, it'll be a resounding defeat. I remember watching the 3-3 down there and they are a very good side, very professional. Remember that hilarious lob over one of our many short-term keepers? If we play at our very very best, we might draw. If we play our average game, they will cane us. And it's a long journey back. Good luck boys!”

“If we play the passing game we are more than capable of challenging any team in this league, the long ball shots only end up to the invisible man and a scrappy game is the end result. If our players put on the same performance when we battered Mansfield we can be in with a winning chance against Forest Green Rovers. The fans will be the 12th man if the players give us something to shout about, lets hope so.utmm.”
