Jon Wood, one of the organisers and a a member of the Trust, said that the evening is shaping up to be even better than the event with Alan Buckley earlier this year.
He said: "We were always going to find it difficult to better the Alan Buckley night because we filled McMenemy's with 200 fans and raised well over £2,000 and had a great evening.
"But we think that we've come up with something to better it by bringing Lawrie McMenemy back to Blundell Park.
"It's the 40th anniversary of the legendary team of 1972 so we thought it was a great time to bring him together with some players from that side for a really special evening.
"It's been quite a struggle and we've been working on it for quite some time but now it's sorted, we're really looking forward to it – it's shaping up to be a great night.
"There will be something for everyone. It will be a great opportunity for fans to take a stroll down memory lane with a nationally renowned figure in the game.
"There will be fans who remember him well for not only his time here with Grimsby but also his time in the England set-up and I'm sure that he'll be happy to chat about that.
"We're looking to build on the success of the Alan Buckley night and go even bigger.
"We're plugging away with all of our events, but marquee events like this really help to further raise the profile of the trust."
The Trust is also holding a football programme and memorabilia fair in the Mariners Trust Lounge at Blundell Park (formerly the Lower Findus bar) this Sunday from 11am to 2pm.
Six nationally recognised dealers will be in attendance with a wide range of football memorabilia on show.
Admission is 50p, free for under 16's and refreshments are available.
Mr Wood added: "We're really excited about the programme fair. Ian Townsend, one of the Trust members is a keen programme collector and he's done a lot of work in pulling it all together.
"Apparently, there's not an event of this kind anywhere else in this area and the programmes and memorabilia that is going to be there really is the bees knees.
"There are going to be dealers and collectors there will have come from all around the country.
"We've got six national dealers and a couple of local lads in attendance and all the juniors that arrive will get a collectors starter pack so there will be something for everyone.
"It's the first one we've ever done but we want to grow it and make it bigger and better every year."
Tickets for the Lawrie McMenemy evening cost £20 for Trust members and will be available from the Trust website and the club from Thursday.
Tickets will also be available to non-Trust members from 15 October for £25 should any remain.
There will also be a limited number of VIP tickets available at £40 for those who wish to attend a pre-event drinks reception with McMenemy.
