LIAM Hearn is following the ‘ten per-cent rule’ after returning to training with his Grimsby Town team-mates.

The Mariners striker has been out of action since August after rupturing his Achilles in training.

But, as revealed earlier this month, the Hitman’s recovery is ahead of schedule and the 27-year-old, pictured, could return to match action in the next few weeks.

“I trained on Monday for the first time with the rest of the boys, for about 50 minutes – it went well, really well,” he told the Telegraph.

“It was none of the physical stuff – it was just passing drills, the warm-up, a few bits of running and then I was back in the gym with Dave Moore (Town’s physio), getting hammered!

“There was no reaction and it’s been important to just get my feet up and ensure I’ve been ready for the next session.”

Last season’s top goalscorer added: “Mooro is ensuring that I don’t go too fast too soon. He’s been telling me about the ‘ten per-cent rule’ which I’d never heard of before.

“You can only increase your training by ten per cent at a time, or else it’s deemed as over-doing it.

“I trust Mooro, he knows what he’s doing and I’ll keep following his advice.”

“Professional job Liam ...Your gave your all last season..Im sure you will add a touch of class on your return and there is garanteed to be a massive buzz around when that happens,..home or away, but at home especially.

stay focused...Wembley is a delightful thing...but to go up as champions after all we've all been through would be the icing on the cake, wembley or not eh

If we get this right, next season could be really exciting.

Onwards and Upwards ..Up the Mighty Mariners!”

    “Welcome back (nearly) Liam
Continue with the hard boring stuff for a few more weeks as I am sure that the team will need your goals before the season ends.
Your "presence" on the training ground will undoubtedly spur the other strikers on but we have a challenging run in with 2 + games a week so I am sure you will have a part to play.
