Grimsby Town's rivals Newport County sign 'proven goalscorer' Rhys Griffiths
GRIMSBY Town's title rivals Newport County have signed former Plymouth Argyle striker Rhys Griffiths. The 32-year old boasts an impressive record in the Welsh Premier League having scored 181 goals in 180 appearances but became a free agent in the January transfer window.
Griffiths joined Plymouth from Port Talbot last summer, but was released by the League Two side in January, having scored three goals in 14 league appearances.
Speaking on the club's official website, County boss Justin Edinburgh said: "Rhys is a proven goalscorer and when we knew that he could become available we kept an eye on the situation.
"He just adds another dimension to the team and he will score goals.
