Grimsby boxer Kevin Hooper ready for title clash with Gary Sykes
BOXER Kevin Hooper has weighed-in on schedule ahead of tonight’s English title clash with Dewsbury’s Gary Sykes.
Both ‘Super Hooper’ and ‘Five Star’ Sykes hit the scales at 9st 3lb 12oz for their much-awaited super-featherweight bout at Humberston’s Beachcomber (9.30pm).
Hooper stated: “I feel great, especially now I’ve weighed in. It’s all gone perfect so far and I can’t wait for the fight.
“I knew I would come in right – I’ve put the hard work in and it’s now time to show that in the ring.”
“I’m more than capable and winning is what I’m here to do. It’s time for me to go in there and grab that title.”
Fight promoter Carl Greaves added: “The Beachcomber isn’t the biggest of places – but it’s our own little home cauldron. It’s a 50-50 fight, but Kev is the one on the way up.”
