Grimsby vs AFC Telford: Brodie boosts Mariners
Richard Brodie was on target but leaders Grimsby were made to work for a 1-0 win over struggling Telford.
Brodie went close to breaking the deadlock in the first half, but his curled effort from the left side of the area went narrowly wide.
But Brodie only had to wait three minutes of the second half before he found the net. Joe Colbeck released the striker through on the goal and he clinically rolled the ball past Ryan Young into the bottom corner.
Mark Cooper's side battled back in the second half and Phil Trainer almost equalised with 20 minutes left but his 25-yard drive flew narrowly wide.

Jake Reid also tried his luck from outside the box but Mariners goalkeeper James McKeown saved well.
Ross Hannah should have added a second with three minutes left but his attempted chip missed the target after he pounced on a defensive error.
The miss did not prove costly as Grimsby extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches in all competitions.

“I know everyone is on a Derek Niven 'love in' at the moment after the managers criticised the fans for booing him a couple of weeks ago but I can't help feel that Andi Thanoj is a far a better option against a team like Telford.
Niven is an honest, hard working player, and it is true does a lot of unseen work closing players down and covering lots of ground but to be honest Telford weren't the best by a long way and we seemed to struggle opening them up. Do we need a defensive midfielder against the lower teams or should we be looking to take them to task and put faith in our footballing abilities?
I'm not a believer in the old cliche "the sign of a good team is one that can play poorly and still win", personally I think if you aren't playing well sooner or later you will come a cropper. This is of course not wholly Derek Niven's fault but we seem to overlook the obviously talented Thanoj too often for me.”

“Must admit my heart was in my mouth but as long as we win these matches I don't mind how we play. We always seem to step up to the big teams, just keep on winning and let's hope that the other teams slip a few points as it gives us more lives to keep that promotion spot. Lots of games now coming up thick and fast, think it's good that we have so many strikers now as S&H will well be able to utilize them over the coming matches, hope the rest of the squad all stay fresh too! We are so overdue a decent season, let's get out of this league keep it going Mighty Mariners!”

“Not a brilliant game by Town but again 3pts for our table toppers,i think todays game was rather drab and had Telford been able to make their shots count we would have lost this game.If we want to get promotion the squad have to play better football than today,we had luck on our side once again my only hope is that it doesn't run out to soon.Great attendance once again the fans are creeping back in BP,keep it that way players.UTMM.”
