Grimsby Town vs Forest Green: Third win in four for the Mariners
Grimsby Town ensured Forest Green Rovers suffered their first defeat of the season with a 1-0 win at Blundell Park.
Nathan Pond scored the only goal of the game to give the Mariners a third win in four games.
Town lost Andy Cook and Bradley Wood to injury in a quiet first half of very few chances.
But it was the home side who secured the points, scoring the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute.

Frankie Artus' free-kick delivery was headed home by Fleetwood loanee striker Pond.
Rovers pressed for an equaliser and Matty Taylor's 85th-minute effort flew just wide of the post.
James Norwood came closest to preserving their unbeaten record but his stoppage-time shot was well held by James McKeown in the Mariners goal.

“Such a huge shame Liam is out injured. I feel we REALLY WOULD kick on from here if he wasn't. Still by giving their maximum EVERY GAME there is nothing to stop this squad of players from being title contenders. To date we have the second meanest defence in the league and that is a very good starting point. We'll miss Liam's goals naturally in the short term but there's no reason why the likes of Elding,Pearson,Cook and company cannot take on the mantle and spur us on to bigger and better things!”

“Excellent performance by the whole team against a side that wll surely be there, or thereabouts, at the end of the season. The back four and Mckeown, in particular, were at the top of their game, although the whole team showed how to defend as a unit.
We have enough talent in this squad to mount a serious challenge this season.
Well done to all concerned on a hard fought win.

“Well played The Mariners.
Forest Green Rovers were a typical team who think they have a devine right for promotion.
Similar to Notts County, Crawley and Fleetwood of recent seasons. Annoying thing is they usually are promoted!
They were dirty and tried every trick in the book to gain advantage from a very poor ref. More often than not they were rewarded by the ref who made some very strange decisions.
Up the Mariners”

“Firstly can I say well done the Town - hard fought win, moved up 4 places and keeping the unbeaten run going. Let's have some more against Fleetwood.
However returning to a familiar theme on the sadly declining quality of the Telewag - Nathan Pond is not a striker from Fleetwood - he's a bleeding central defender. We know (sadly) that there's no one in the sports department who's a Town fan anymore but at least try and be professional even if you can't be interested!
I'd even settle for them bringing back David Pye and his hilarious Pye's Eye View column let alone a sports reporter of real calibre like Geoff Ford. Or maybe I'm getting old!?”
